PHOTOGRAPHY AND COVID-19

After reopening in May, I have adjusted some of my shooting practices to accommodate the strange world we are currently living in.
I keep my bubble small, spending time with only those that I live with (my husband and adult son). My husband works on the island, and we have a home there. When travelling to Victoria, I stay in our vehicle and bubble in our home while I am there other than getting out for a walk with my dog. My husband is the only one working in his office, as his staff is working from home which keeps him and them safe from risk. Our son is in university and taking classes online. He has spent the majority of his time at home with the exception of getting groceries or getting outside for a walk. We have not been exposed to anyone that has been ill, nor have we been ill.
I feel confident in working with you and to help ease your mind, I have listed how I will create with you moving forward during this Twilight Zone we are calling life at the moment.
Preparation:
My studios are located at my home. Maternity, milestone, first year and family shoots take place in my main studio, with the option of outdoor shots as well (weather permitting). I have a very private back yard, we will take advantage of the yard to get some creative images as well. If you are thinking of a location session, we will discuss and plan this ahead of your session date. Newborn Sessions are done in my upstairs studio.
Maternity:
-
Hair and makeup will be done by my artist Lindsay. She will adhere to all guidelines set out by Work Safe BC while getting you ready for your session. She will work her magic in our main living space, which has just been renovated and you will sit at our island during this time. This area will be clean and shiny for you.
-
I have always enjoyed spoiling clients with home baked treats, but for now I request that you bring your own snacks and treats while you are here.
-
Our downstairs washroom is currently under renovation, so if you need to use the facilities, you are welcome to use our upstairs bathroom, which of course will be cleaned before your arrival.
-
Wardrobe options will be sent to you by gallery ahead of time where you can choose your favourites. These will be clean and ready for your your session.
-
I will make every effort to work at a safe distance, and when shooting, this isn't a problem, but wardrobe and posing adjustments do involve me having to get closer. If you are not comfortable with this, we can discuss and plan accordingly.

Newborn:
As you know I am natural newborn photographer, which means that I do not do a lot of posing, nor do I use props (other than a teddy bear or bunny). However, this still involves touching your baby to accomplish the images you are hoping to receive, and working in a very warm space to keep your baby comfortable while I shoot.
Studio setting
-
Newborn sessions are done in my upstairs studio, as during the winter months it is an easier space to properly warm for your baby. The space would be thoroughly cleaned and prepared, with all blankets, wraps and backdrops washed ahead of time.
-
Only immediate family members will be permitted for this shoot, with the majority of focus being paid to your newborn.
-
I will wear a mask, and properly wash my hands, removing jewelry as I always do.
-
You will be required to wear a mask during our time together, only removing it when you are having your portrait taken.
Milestone, First Year and Family
These shoots will be done in my main studio or outdoors, using a combination of studio and outdoor fine art styling. These can alternatively be done on location with discussion and planning ahead of time.
My goal is to keep everyone safe and healthy while capturing images that commemorate your special moment in life. I will contact you regularly to see how everyone is doing leading up to your session, which includes the day of to be sure no one is displaying any symptoms. I am limiting bookings to allow for thorough cleaning between clients.
I am returning to my Reveal and Ordering Appointments, which take place in my home. You will be required to sanitize your hands when you arrive and you are required to wear a mask. These appointments will be limited to a maximum of four people.
As we know, this is an ever evolving situation, and I will be sure to bend as things move ahead in this adventure.
My request is that we communicate, ask questions so we are sure to cover all the bases to make sure that your portrait session is safe and enjoyable, resulting in images that you can treasure forever.
